PUT YOUR NUMBERS TO WORKWhat is a good internet speed?
There is no single speed that suits every home. A person checking email needs less capacity than a family streaming on several screens while someone uploads work. Use the figures below for one Netflix stream, then leave room for the other things happening on your connection.
WiFi speed versus broadband speed
Your broadband connection brings internet service to the router. WiFi carries it wirelessly to your device. An online WiFi speed test measures the whole path to an internet server; it does not isolate the wireless link or read signal strength.
Compare a wired and wireless result
If Ethernet is consistently faster, investigate wireless coverage or the device. If both are slow, check shared usage, equipment, and your provider. A router’s advertised wireless link rate is not the same as usable internet throughput. This distinction helps you avoid upgrading a broadband plan when the problem is in one room.
Internet speed test in Pakistan
You can use WifiTest.pk on a connection that reaches our test endpoints, whether it is home fiber, DSL, or mobile data. Running a PTCL speed test, StormFiber speed test, or Nayatel speed test here uses the same independent tool. There is no special provider mode or affiliation.
Give your provider a useful comparison
Keep a few results taken under similar conditions and compare them with your subscribed plan. Record whether each test used WiFi or Ethernet. StormFiber’s troubleshooting advice also recommends closing bandwidth-heavy applications before testing. A consistent pattern is more useful to support than one unusually low reading.
How to improve a slow WiFi connection
Before changing your package, compare the same device near the router and at your usual seat. A large difference suggests a coverage problem. Place the router in an open, central position instead of hiding it behind furniture. Walls, distance, and nearby wireless traffic can affect performance.
Make one change, then measure again
Pause unnecessary transfers and compare the available 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands near the router. Restart equipment if the connection has become unreliable, and let it reconnect before testing. If several devices remain slow, ask your provider to investigate. Google’s WiFi troubleshooting guide explains these common causes.
Why two speed checks can disagree
Server location, routing, test duration, and connection count can change the result. WifiTest.pk measures your browser’s connection to Cloudflare’s edge network. Another service may use a different path. Cloudflare’s explanation of network testing describes why measurements are a snapshot.
Read the units before comparing
Mbps means megabits per second; MB/s means megabytes per second. Divide Mbps by eight for a theoretical MB/s equivalent: 80 Mbps is 10 MB/s before overhead. A file download may be slower because of its server or your device. Compare like-for-like results and consider latency alongside throughput.
